Yesterday my Lexus stalled at an intersection. This is the second time in a couple of years so I am thinking the first time was not a fluke.

Both time I was stopped at an intersection. When it came time to go, the engine stopped. All the electronics, stereo, A/C etc keep going.

The first time I tried restarting after a moment and the car started. The second time, yesterday, I didn't immediately remember the first time and concentrated on pushing the car out of traffic. When I did think of it, the car started right away.

Any ideas?

 

Is there a CEL?
Ignition switch?

 

Idle air control valve beginning to stick?

 

No check engine light. Though now that you mention it, I will double check with an OBD reader on the chance that the CEL lamp is broken.

 

OBD reader came up with nothing.

 

I agree with rtis250 I'd start by cleaning the iac motor.

 

Yup, idle air motor and add throttle body cleaning to start.
