Devil, you helped me in the past and I'm seeking your help once more........
I have a ck. eng. light that has been read as code 71 EGR prob.
I'm going to take it to my mechanic tomorrow for him try to fix. Anything you can write here I will print out and take to him tomorrow. I wish you were in San Diego!
Btw........former Naval Officer here, so we have something in common.
thats an egr malfunction.use a vaccum pump to test the egr valve if the idle doesnt change when u do this then either have a valve problem or your passage is plugged up
Also, check the plate at the middle of the intake where the EGR mount to(driver side of the engine). Just remove those 12 mm bolts and nuts util you can see the port on the intake. Clean the port on the intake and the port on the EGR. Like Sooner said it may plugged up from carbon deposit.
Very commonly a bad EGR modulator....pull the top cap off and if you see a small burn hole on the underside of the white mesh material the modulators toast.. If you need one let me know....Rcbrip@cs.com
