The actual Lexus packages are great. They cover the full cost of all of the proper scheduled maintenance. Some of the aftermarket packages are not so great, and do not cover the full cost of the larger services which may leave you with an overage to pay out of pocket. If you get the real deal Lexus plan you'll be covered.

Default Prepaid maintenance

I have had three vehicles with the prepaid maintenance. The first was a low milage vehicle that was covered and I did not know it. The second was a vehicle I traded in several months ago and I did finally get my refund for the his and wheel and rim insurance. These were all lexus products and they can see this coverage when you take the car to any lexus dealership. I like not having to worry about having to pay when I go in for service. They even replace the battery in your key. I can not speak to companies other than lexus. I do not think it saves any money except you are covered against future increases in regular maintenance and possibly geographic variation in price. The standard visit with oil change and a run through the cars wash is about $100.
