1997 ES300 newbie
someone has babied, my prior car was a camry (a prented me lexus)
the car has no owners manual, i have to order one, takes a while. perhaps someone would be kind enough to help me drive a littler better. The closeset Lexus dealer is 5 hours away...
- what is the TRAK off button used for?
- there is some sort of level indicator when u open the hood near the winshield washer fluid?
- there is a comfort sport adjustment? what does it do?
- the remote lock/unlock and the trunk remote drive me crazy. the rear tail lights flash, but the car doors dont alway unlock?
- the auto-light on/off on the steering stack? what is it for?
the car also has a remote start. Is that standard? also does
not seem to work all of the time..
and of course , the needles for the the gas gauge are dim. Since
this is a 1997 model it is supposed to have a bulb? do u have to
tear the dash apart to replace it?
sorry for all the questions......if even a few could be answerered..
and if this is the wrong forum, please feel free to flame me.
The Trac off is use when you need some traction at low speed, such as try to get up the hill in light snow and you don't want trac to come on.
I think the level indicator you're talking about is for the headlight level adjustment.
The comfort/ sport adjustment is for you shocks setting. If you want a soft ride, adjust it to comfort or if you want it more stiffer ride, adjust it to sport.
When you press the unlock buttom the first time, only the driver door will unlock. You press it one more, another 3 door will unlock. There is a small battery inside the remote too, sometimes the battery can go bad(weak battery). Just use a small flat head screw driver and pry open the remote cover if you want to change the battery.
The remote start is not factory.
The needle on the gauge dim. You will need to replace the needle, not the bulb. The combination meter have to come out to replace the needle.
Some the info is in the owner manual and if you don't have one. You can order it from Lexus dealer or from Lexus.com and they will ship it to your house. I think it not too expensive.
