is300 Throttle Body Replacement
Hi All,
Looking for some input in regards to a quote I received as well as a good site to check parts prices for a new throttle body. Been reading the forums here and they have been very helpful.
My 2001 is300 Automatic (77k mi) recently experienced the CEL+Trac OFF issue accompanied by severe lag & non-responsiveness when pressing the gas pedal. Got it checked out and it looks like I need my throttle body replaced. This seems in line with what others have said.
Quote is $1,450 for parts and labor. Anyone know a good spot online to check for the price of a
factory 2001 IS 300 throttle body brand new? Been looking around and haven't found a good spot as of yet.
Think the shop quoted over $1k for the part and wanted to make sure that is in the ballpark. Sadly I think it is.
Appreciate all the input.
Thanks!

thats in the ball park for retail, you can find them at online lexus parts suppliers for 800-850... it is probably an hour worth of labor to replace it, so, $70-$100 depending on your locale...
Buy a used one! Checkout the forums and or call around to local junk yards. It was not a common issue Inheard of or seen when I had my IS300's. however, things could have changed since it was a while back. As far as swapping it out its very straigh forward and simple. The gaskets are all reusable too! I remember buying a couple to them for $20-50, still working perfectly, just to mess around a polish them.
