Shifter problem...
Ok so I go out to my car and start it but it won't let me shift out of park. I tried everything and it wouldn't move. So I stuck a pen in the little "shift over drive" hole and then it allowed me to shift out of park and into drive. I could then after removing the pen still shift between drive and reverse for example. But once I put it back into park, it would not allow me to shift out of it until I reinserted the pen. Any idea what is wrong and what I should do??? Thanks!

Sounds like either the brake shift sensor cable thing is broke or the "shift over drive" plastic piece is broken.
Sorry I'm not being too descriptive, but try pressing the gas pedal down and listening for a click noise coming from under the shift **** with the car on. When the brake is pressed the cable ( i think it's a cable) unlocks the shifter so you can move it out of P.
The click is pretty audible on my LS, maybe the GS is different.

Check your stop fuse , if the fuse is good then step on the brake to see if the brake light comes on. Like lvangundy said make sure you hear some clicking type noise from the shifter. You may have a bad stop light switch by the brake pedal.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, well its not the stop light swicth which is what I was hoping, so the shop spent forever to try and figure it out and can't so after now going to charge me an arm and a leg for all the time they spent, I now have to take it to the Lexus dealer to fix it which will cost even more.... I am so pissed!!!!
