99 GS300 shift lock?
When I try to shift into gear, my shifter is locked. I used to press the break, then shift, but now it won't. I have to push the manual release on the shift gate to be able to shift into gear and into reverse, or park? Can anyone tell me what the problem might be? There used to be a click when I pressed the foot break, so of course there is no longer this sound. Did something become disengaged, or broken? Maybe I need a new shifter, or fuse somewhere?
Thanks,
Rock

I had the same problem but, my brake light fuse was fine. What I did to fix it was take a thick sheet of paper and fold it up real tight. Then take a flat head screwdriver and push back the manual release and stick the folded paper in front of the shift release. Next cut the excess paper and put the little cover back on. Haven't had a problem since.

That is exactly what I did over two years ago. I have forgotten about the issue until now.
I do believe my shift lock siloniod is out of service...
