in the 2007 ES350 the oil cap says 5w30 but i read somewhere i think that you can use
5w30
5w20
or
0w20 is this true ?

also i don't see anywhere weather its
full synthetic

partial syn blend

or reagular conventional oil

The approved oils are listed in your owners manual. Sometimes in warmer or colder climates, they recommend thinner or thicker oils accordingly. I wouldnt put 0W20 or 5W20 in your 07 ES350, when it calls for 5W30.

There are many debates on synthetic vs. regular. To be honestly, as long as you change your oil on time, it doesnt really matter what you use.

what im asking is if there is a specific recommendation from the factory kind of like Premium fuel required but more of a OIl
is it supposed to be a Dyno a Syn blend or a Full Syn
what came in our cars new from the Factory anyone know this ?

if the book doesnt say what kind of oil then its conventional oil. If it says syn will increase mpg or engine performance then stick with syn. And if the manual says 5w30. then stick with 5w30. I just stick with what the manual says.

One more question what is normal oil consumption for our cars ? Should I be able to go 5k and only use 1 or 1.5 qts or should I be exspecring to add a qt every 1500 or 2000 miles ?
Or should I not have to add oil between changes ?

Normal consumption for a properly maintained 2GR-FE 3.5L V6 engine using factory recommended 5W30 oil in between 5,000 mile factory recommended oil changes is ZERO.

That isn't completely true...

Although I don't know Toyota's actual spec for this, normal consumption could be as much as 1 quart per 3000 miles... Many manufacturers list this, and I know Toyota does as well...

Even properly maintained, chances are you will lose some oil over the course of an oil change interval... Very few engines are "perfect"

Question for the experts. On CL, I find that everyone's standard response is to follow the oil recommendation in your owner's manual. However, I ask which oil can be used in the ES350.

I saw that exact charge looking threw things a few days after purchasing my vehcile and got confused thats when i asked a question about what weights are good and all i got was stick to what your Owners manual says witch i get is a easy reaspons to give
but i was curious why is it saying all 4 oil weigths above are ok for the ES350
and does it really matter witch one i use ?

That chart is a photoshop or some clerk at Lexus that thinks they know oil. I challenge you to find a legitimate Lexus document that the dealer can find in the form of a TSB that says to use 20 Weight oil back spec'ing the cars to 1995 and the real giveaway that this is fake is that they lump the ES 300, 330, & 350 into one big melting pot. There is another chart in the Toyota forums that looks just like that but no one can verify that it is authentic document.

That being said, you are not going to kill the motor using any of the weights listed in the chart. Probably the difference from best to worst is that your motor will only last 400,000 miles instead of 500,000 miles. Just don't be one of those bobistheoilguy.com morons that runs anything from 0W40 - 15W40 weight oils because they used 10W40 in their 1979 Crown Victoria or Olds Delta 88 and it worked just fine for them. [for 1985 forward, GM quit recommending 10W40 due to "piston scuffing" and bearing failure because the oil was "too thick" for tight tolerances]

Go with what's on your oil cap ....... assuming it corresponds to what is in your owner's manual. If your owner's manual says 5W30 ........ and you live in sub zero climates ...... go wiith 0W30 synthetic.

In my experience Toyota engines, with under 100,000-150,000 miles on them and properly maintained, consume almost no to very little oil betweem intervals. The amount of oil consumtion I have experienced with these engines has been undetectable. If my vehicle consumed a quart of oil every 3000 miles I would definitely think something was wrong with it. This type of oil consumption might be normal for a Dodge/Chrysler product, but not most Toyotas(maybe high revving performance Toyota products). Also, I've read that Toyota has some of the tightest engine clearances/tolerances in the world. The "1 Quart per 3000 miles is considered normal" is just a technicality compaines use to avoid arbitraional disputes, (lawsuits).

My 10 year old Tacoma Prerunner with over 200,000 miles hardly consumes oil over its 7500-8000 mile oil change intervals.

Wow, lots of great information since I've last posted. The consensus is to use what is on the oil cap b/c the photo/table I've linked is photoshopped. So what's the opinion on the TSB EG006-06 where it states that 5W-20 are starting to be used on 2006 GR series engine. Does this apply to engines going forward?

Ignore it. If you read it carefully ....... it is ambiguous.

There is no reason not to follow your oil cap/owners manual. The only .......and I mean ONLY exception to the 5W30 rule is if you live where the climate is constantly below zero ... like Alaska or Canada in which case you should be using nothing but the best 0W30 synthetic oils.

Just say no to 20 Weight conventional (non-synthetic) such as 5W20. About the worst that can happen if you use 0W20 synthetic vs 5W30 is your engine life drops from 500K to 400K miles. The use of 5W20 conventional oil will void your warranty and probably provide inadequate protection
