Fuel Injector Cleaner
BY FAR THE BEST IS "TECHROLINE" BY CHEVRON. tHE CHEMICAL COMES IN 2 SIZES, 12 OZ FOR 12 GALLONS OF FUEL OR LESS, AND 20 OZ FOR 20 GALLONS OF FUEL OR LESS. Chevron and Texaco both use techron in their gasolines at the pump, and continued usage will keep normal running cars at their peak.
Techroline is highly concentrated, and will clean partially clogged injectors, and will keep properly running injectors at their best. Be SURE it is STRAIGHT TECHROLINE concentrate in the black bottle. Prices run from 5 to 6 dollars for the 12 oz bottle, and $9.00 to 10.00 for the larger 20 oz bottle.
Chevron also makes cheaper versions of this problem called "CLEAN-UP". This is a weaker version of the original. Clean up should be considered to maintain a good running system, but for best performance, get the concentrated straight "Techroline".
One word of caution: Use only 5 bottles of concentrated techroline per oil change, as this product will deposit dirt and carbon in the oil from the injectors and combustion chamber.
Use on a nearly empty tank of fuel. Pour in, and IMMEDIATELY fill the tank with either 12 or 20 gallons of fuel depending on size of bottle used. Drive the entire tank down without refueling and diluting the mixture. The next few tanks of just fuel should result in a noticeable improvement in performance if the fuel system components were marginally effective before.

I'm with gebo on this one. From what I've read and heard, the only ingredient that does the cleaning in any of those cleaner formulations is toluene, so the more toluene in the cleaner bottle, the better.
Just don't tell the paint store clerk what you are doing with it until after he rings you up, or you risk him trying to weasel the usual oil-company markup on the toluene.

Fellas,
If you have a Costco in your area, check there for the Chevron FI cleaner. Here in Atlanta you can buy four bottles for $9.76. Also, I have seen a few warnings about overdoing it with any kind of fuel system cleaner, apparently it can damage some kind of glue that holds the injectors together. Those of you using straight toulene may want to keep that in mind. Anyone else heard of this issue?
Thanks

I don't know the specifics but Toluene is also used as an octane booster at higher inclusion rates. Yes, I know it is not cost effective to do this but are we Lexi owners really concerned about "cost effectiveness"?
