duplicating remote key

duplicating remote key
Do I need to have my car taken into the service bays (Lexus Dealer) to have a duplicate 3 button transponder key made? I do not want to leave my car out in their hands for reasons too complicated to go into. They said they have to take it in back to duplicate the key even though I gave them the original. A friend had hers duplicated the next day by the same dealer without them taking her car in the back. I don't trust them with my car. Please answer ASAP. Thank you

Depends on what car you have, but why not call a local Locksmith?

I can't trust this dealer
Thank you for your reply. I have a 2002, ES300 and this dealer owes me a key free of charge but I have reason to not trust him with my car any further because I plan to report him to a consumers protection agency for fraud.
