buying a new lexus !! changing keys ??
Like buying a new house and changing the locks etc... is this possible, should I even bother ? wondering what you guys do about old keys that previous owners may have lying around, it wouldn't be hard for the previous owner to rock up to my place and just drive my lex away using his old key, if he had made a copy that is.
Should I worry ?

If its not there when you wake up the next morning....you'll know who took it.
personally, I dont think it matters unless you get it from a private seller you know isnt trustworthy and knows where you live. I've never really heard of changed the keys and locks but if you feel safe by doing it than go for it.

I've had my Lexus rekeyed with new locks. You'll have to go to a Lexus dealership and have a tech copy the new lock code so they can associate it with your VIN in their database (in case you want to make copies in the future).
Get a good alarm that shuts the engine off. Unless they are car theives.... that should help. It's not like you don't know where they live... I always get the dl# when I get a car from a private seller just in case.
