Default 2006 RX 400h transmission leak

Car was driving fine when "Check Hybrid System" indicator light came on; the inverter fluid was low, with some sign of leakage in the garage. Dealer says it needs a new transmission (out of warranty) before he can determine whether the inverter (in warranty) is damaged. Has anyone experienced this problem before?

How many miles on your car? Any service work done recently and by whom? A little bit more detail may help because it's very rare to see the 400h transmission goes bad.
