Other than the assurances of a 3 year warranty from the date of purchase up to 100K miles on the car - what does it actually cover and tell us about a car?
Is it true Bumper To Bumper - anything at all that's not a wear and tear part or standard maintenance item? Is there a deductible? If so, per item - or per service call? Are free loaners available if it takes more than a day? Other perks? (I read somewhere about free car washes for life?!!)
Regardless of this - does a CPO car mean it will be cosmetically mint or excellent? For instance - if I bought a car from say, 600 miles away and had it delivered* sight unseen - is it going to have any stone chips, door dings, cracked leather, any tiny or otherwise scratches or scrapes inside or out? - OR - to achieve this level do they all have to be excellent to mint condition cosmetically as well?????
*Obviously buying locally would be optimal, but we live in an area that doesn't have a lot of stock - and dealers are completely unrealistic in pricing compared to the major markets - so we are shopping online.
Without CPO -
Wouldn't for instance - a 2009 RX350 with 25K miles still be covered under the original factory warranty? How would that differ from CPO coverage other than the obvious time/miles?
Is a factory warranty start date beginning with the model year - or the date it was first put into service?
Were 2009 RX's - 4/50,000 or 5/50,000?
Apologies for so many questions.... Thanks in advance for input!
Factory warranty from the date of first use= 4 years/50K which ever comes frists. Your sale rep. should be able to give you all the details.
Thanks - 4/50K it is then!
Not sure I would trust a used car salesman about the truth of the condition of a car. This is way I wondered if the CPOs would ensure a higher level of screening for cosmetic excellence as well as mechanical.
If it's CPO from Lexus dealer, yes, they check both cosmetic and mechanical. Becareful that some used car lot will put the CPO sticker on the windshield and call it a day.
This is an old thread but people regularly buy used cars ......... a CPO (insert brand) car will typically have a higher asking price than a non-CPO car, all else being equal. My experience is that it is $2 to 4k more for an Acura, Lexus, etc.
It is more because the dealer is required to do a more thorough inspection and the brand is assuming risk of warranty work. Thus, a CPO car is similar to an insurance policy and it typically carries a fee.
