Default @@@ HELP p1354 @@@@

I have 1999 es300 and the check engine light and trac light came on , so i went to firestone to get it checked out , they told me it had 3 codes , on p1354, p0330,p0446, so i replaced the 2 knock senors, cam senor, crank sensor, and a engine sensor. i left there and 3 miles later the light came back on , so i went back , they said its a little low on oil so they toped it off and i left again. got home went to bed woke up started the car , then the car started idling at 1.5 rpm and driving very rough and the lights came back on, brought it back to them and they said it jumped timing , so they fixed it and sent me on my way,2 hours later the light game back on , so i went back they told me it has to be the Oil Control Valve (OCV) so i did that 10 mile later the damn light came back on , WHATS LEFT TO DO ?????????

P1354 is very common for ES and RX for VVT oil control valve, but I forget which bank is for P1354. The sensor is located at the very back of the cylinder head(just right under the valve cover on the intake side). The part cost about $100.00 at the dealer and may be an hour labor at the most.

I don't know why they replaced knock sensor and o2 sensor. When the VVT oil control valve goes bad the whole engine is shaking like the car is going to shut off.

Did they replace both oil control valves?? My Lexus dealer didn't tell me there were 2. But the Toyota dealer did!! Also buy your OCV at Toyota, its about $80.00 cheaper. When replacing the 2 valves, make sure you gently blow back the oil tube, thats what my trouble was.
Works like a charm!!

I would tell them to give you your money back for mis-diagnosising. If not, report them.

I had a toyota solara with the same 3.0 ltr as your es300. I too had the trac and check engine. It was egr related. Locate your egr there is a small sensor on top of it with 3 bolts. remove that, there is a plunger inside. Push the plunger in, if its smooth to go in,(good)next check the resistance to make sure its within spec.. If its not smooth to go in, it has carbon build up,replace it. I think I paid around $45.00 for the sensor. No more trac and check engine light. Takes 2 minutes to change it.
