Question TRansmission Flush

I was just curious, i just got a 1999 4wd toyota 4 runner wih 43k miles and did a transmission and coolant flush, both with generic fluid, guys said fluid is universal. I have a question, should i be worrying about the flush destroying the transmission?

I would always use whatever fluid the owners manual states. Not sure if the 99 4runner used T4 or Dextron... but im pretty sure its T4, which is a Toyota specific fluid.

it should say on the dipstick a 99 4runner its probably dex3 but you could double check to be safe and anyways they have a "friction modifier" to make it equivalent to whatever the fluid is I dont trust it myself but I dont have any reasons why
