Post Alternator & Batteries

Should I get OEM alternator which cost $400+ or is therean alternator that you guys could recommend? It's falling below specs.

Planning to replace my battery since it's 6 years old. Which one should I get?

This one would almost be the exact one like OEM 600 CCA, and the alternator won't have any problems fully charging it.

Or this is higher than OEM, 800 CCA, which the alternator would need to charge longer for it to fully charge.

I do have a sound system: 4 channel @ 200 RMS and a mono @ 300 RMS.

Any help or suggestions from you guys would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Just take the alternator out and get a local rebuild shop to rebuild it for roughly $100.

batteries only drain as much as you let them...

if you let the 600 drain 25%, you still have 450 left... if you let the 800 drain 25%, you still have 600 left...

the alternator only has to charge what you use... the 800 will be better overall...

goto auto parts warehouse website and look for the rebuild units. they're usually pretty cheap and they have warranty as well.

What does that mean? Do batteries lose charge and never get it back? I always though you could use the battery for the radio for at least an hour before you had to recharge it.

no, I mean that if you have a high capacity battery, it doesn't hurt the alternator, because the alternator only needs to recharge what you use...
