There is no reason why you cant switch between different synthetics... I wouldnt constantly switch from synthetic back to conventional though. But switching to different synthetics back and forth is safe.

Somebody told me the new Mobil One is not as good as the old Mobil One...

Any truth to this?

beating a dead horse, the topic has been discussed NUMEROUS times. I have been using Mobil 1 for years and never had any ill effects, my analysis results are always right on the money.

BOT, yes it is more than ok to switch back and forth BETWEEN SYNTHETICS, not so much between dino and synthetic. In switching between synthetics, the only thing is if you switch M1 to RP and then back to M1, you are gonna take a step backwards, but i kinda have to, I dont want to afford $9.00 a quart for oil!

yeah, i wouldnt use anything that thick for fear of lockup/gelling issues.

Ill put it this way, in military grade trucks, including 45 ton 8 wheel drive HEMTT wreckers, we use good ol' NAPA 80/85w-90.

LS additives won't hurt a thing. The 75/140 stuff is a bit thicker at temp, but it flows like a 75W at colder temps thanks to the viscosity index improver.

I'm running Pennzoil Platinum 5/30 in my 229K LS400, and it allows me to have only 2 oils on hand - the PP also goes into the Sienna and Prius in the family stable, while the beater Quest gets Chevron Delo 15W-40.
