Anyone had this problem before? I have a 92 ES300. Usually you can hear the AC turn on from the engine and you can see the rpm move, but when I try to turn it on, it just turns on and no sound from the engine or anything. Does anyone have any suggestions or had this problem before? Thanks.

 

Probalbly the a/c compressor or pump unit. I don;t know much about it, but it went out on my LS400 when the previous ownder had it. It cost about $500 to fix.

 

Listening and looking at the rpm isn't good enough to troubleshoot AC problems.

Look to see if the AC clutch engages (with engine running of course) when AC is on and temperature is set to minimum (coldest) then hook up AC pressure gauge manifolds to read high and low pressure.
