Just an FYI : Brakes are meant to squeel when not being depressed to notify you that they are in need of new pads. There is a metal tab that will run along the rotor. When you press in the brakes it pushes it up and the pads (whats left of them) will hit the rotor and then work and sound goes away. This is how most are made and initially designed.
sounds like this is your problem
only does when car is in motion and stops when you tap the brakes? then this is it.
Chances are it is a break issue if the sound goes away when you brake and it does not happen when you are not in motion. You have unwanted contact in your braking system somewhere and it is either due to worn brakepads (where the end of the brake pad has a metal indicator designed to make a squealing noise to let you know it needs replacing) or you have a frozen caliper bolt that is causing your brake pad to constantly stay in contact with you rotor in which case you will have probably warped the affected rotor. I would bet on the worn brake pads - when is the last time you changed them anyway?
YAY!!! Problem finally solved... It was the stupid front brake pads... I totally ruled these out because last November I gave $712 to this bastard company named griffin brothers (they have a few locations around charlotte) for two back tires and new brake pads all around. I got ripped off, i know, this was before i started working at the shop I am now. Well we ordered front pads, they delivered them 10 minutes later, 15 minutes later, no more problem... so all it cost was the $25 for duralast gold pads. no labor or anything like that. Thanks so much for all your help guys, MEX LEX was 1st, so he gets the money. pm me your paypal addy...
