Default AWD Smog Check 2 - Cali - AWD Dyno?

I just called to get a smog check on my 00 RX300 and the mechanic said they don't have the equipment to do those. He said it requires some different computer equipment they didn't have??

The only thing I could think of was that I know California instituted Smog Check 2 where they dyno your car, not just tailpipe, but I don't know of any places that have AWD dynos, so how do they do it.

I don't want to take my AWD to some SMOG check place and they try to test it with just the front wheels rolling, that would destroy it.

Anyone in San Diego know of a place that does RX300s??

I went to Eagle Motors on Mira Mar Road at the begining of the year. They did not even put my RX on a treadmill, just a tailpipe and check of OBD II port. I used a coupon from the Calendar magazine, grab a free one at the checkout of local super market and check it out. PM me if you need more info.

Emission check is OBD II and in some states, idle tailpipe check.

They will not load check any full time four wheel drives or all wheel drives.

You should be able to take it anywhere. If its an AWD its only a two speed idle test -no dyno. Dynos are only for two wheel drives.
