Engine Block Coolant Draincock
I want to change coolant in 1993 Lexux LS400. Engine block coolant draincocks probably have not been opened in many years, I'm afraid they will snap/strip if I apply force. Looks like brass plug screws into fitting which screws into engine block. My plan is to order replacement draincock so I can replace if they break. Looks like pretty clear shot to drill out and re-tap if doomsday scenario happens. Has anyone had experience with them ? Do they usually open ? Has anyone had them break ? Thanks - Herm

Use a six point or sided 10mm socket, rather than a twelve point. The six point allows for more torque without rounding off, as a twelve point might.
I torqued mine to 9 Ft Lbs after draining.

Thanks for the suggestions/comments. Did you have to hold the fitting in the engine block when you unscrewed the brass plug from it ? I was thinking of trying a six point crow foot flare wrench (if I could find one).
