The SRT TC is the culprit
Well some of you might know that my car has been in the shop for some time now because of a stutter problem that know one can figure out. Well if you didn't know then, here is a quickie. My car started to stutter at idle about 2 months ago and then dies sometimes when put into park after driving. The engine ran great when first start but the stutter only starts after I start driving the car. I have taken the car to 4 mechanics and even Lexus and know one knew what was wrong!
Well I have finally gave up and decided to sell the car this weekend and wanted to keep the SRT TC I have, so I took it out and put the old one back in.
Guess what, the problem stopped!
The car has been running great for four days now!
I guess the SRT TC malfunctioned somewhere.
Now since I had the TC for over a year now, no warranty.
Mo can you doing anything for me?

Similar Situation
Lou - While my GS hasn't been running poorly, the 'Check Engine" light has been coming on/off periodically & nothing I did ( pulled ECU fuses ) would reset it so I was forced to head to the dealership. After the techs finished salivating over the engine compartment , they plugged in their diagnostic tester & discovered that there was an electrical signal problem in the tranny!? Couldn't find the Molex bypass plug SRT includes with the HFI/ECU combo so I'll need to dig it up & head back next week. The tech said it wouldn't hurt to drive the GS as it was but the good newz was that he said "It was a good thing that I HADN'T modified the car in any way or it wouldn't be covered under warranty" ( if necessary ). Guess I need to find out what his favorite beverage is & buy him a case!! I'll letcha know what my guyz come up with when I get it back to the dealership. Not really convinced that it's the T/C because I've had it over 2 years with no problems - also, it's a mechanical connection & nothing electrical ( unless the higher stall speed has pissed off the Lexus ECU! ).

Gene,
Please keep us updated, I appreciate it. I'm thinking of getting the TC, but if this something that I may deal with down the road, I'll pass. Best of luck with your TC and I look forward to good news

All the mechanics (including Lexus dealer) said they didn't know what was wrong with my car. Everything was in great condition and they were perplexed on why it stuttered. No check engine light no nothing, it acted like nothing was wrong. The computer couldn't catch it and the mechanics were confused because everything worked like it was suppose to.
Ever since I pulled the TC out it stopped and never has stuttered again, that is why I came to the conclusion it is the TC.
I didn't say all SRT TC is bad, just mine.
There is always a lemon and I just so happen to have one, that is all.
I'm not bad mouthing anyone, just stating what happen to me and helping others that might experience this problem.
Sorry for the miss understanding.

Who did the install / uninstall - that may be another place to look for problems.
After a year of working properly, the TC causes problems?
Sounds suspect to me.
Not saying you are fibbing or anything, but there may be no direct realtionship. You know what I'm saying? Just dig deeper and keep us posted.
