hey guys i had a thread earliar and my 97 es is making a whisper noise....and it seesm as if its a belt problem...and i was told it may be teh SERPINTINE belt...and it is very easy to change...i was hopeing if someone made a DIY for it? since i hear this belt wear happens very often esp during winter since it is temp sensitive...
note. i think it is the serptine belt that is making thsi whisper? im not sure.. the car was garaged for about 5 montsh and something may hae dried up? i feel like greasing the inside wiht like butter! or somethign! what do you guys recomnd i doo? it still drives realll smooth..neverthe less it is A LEX

The catch is how do you determine how tight to make the new belt. Too loose, it slips...too tight, you ruin the bushings on the pump, A/C compressor or alternator. Experience answers this question. I would use OEM belts, since they fit perfectly. And replacing both belts at the same time.. as they were both installed at the same time.
What is your access of tools?
My recommendation would be to use a parts web site, order and receive the correct belt part numbers and have an experienced Trusted individual install them correctly.
