Gas Is Crazy

I havent had any problems with running 87... which is why I run it in mine. I'm mostly stock though, and for someone who is still pretty stock that you'll notice and major difference in going from 87 to 91.
I did fill up with 93, until they stopped carrying it in my entire state so I just said ****it and switched to 87.

the sc300 has the same exact engine as the V6 camry (87unleaded), because toyota likes to reuse parts across brands to reduce cost (the es is a camry!) i am sure many of the sc300 ECU components are similar to the camrys
therefore, just fill in 87 gas and reset the ecu, you wont notice any difference

You are mistaken. The Camry has a 3.0 liter V6. The SC300 has a 3.0 liter I6. Keyword I6. The engines are totally different.

gas is pretty high $3.59 for premium so sometimes i run 87 but then i feel guilty and go back to 91or 93 depending on whats available. i must admit that the mpg suffers unless i take a highway trip which i still get over 400 miles on the tank. the higher octane def. gets more mileage and i would never run the 87 for a prolonged period of time. do you guys think we will ever see $2 gas again? i can still remember when gas was .99 and it took $25 to fill up my 91ls

Have U.S. embassy friends paying 17 cents equivalent per gallon in Caracas, Venezuela. It was only 4 cents back in the late 1970s.
Here in Mexico City, we pay about $2.30 equivalent for regular and about $2.75 for premium, but the quality is terrible. I probably spend just as much as you do in the States, because I end up having to use additives even when running Premium.
Some of my friends in Laredo won't even fill up on Pemex just across the border (though cheaper) due to the quality issue.

gas is starting to go back down, thank god.
&i can hear/feel the difference very slightly when i go from regular crap-brand gas to supremium nice-brand gas; however, when i calculate my mileage the difference isnt justified by miles/dollar. so i stick with 87 also [but my car is stock, so its got less that might require pampering].
