Unhappy A/C Hoses

Hi,

I hope that this is not a repost of an earlier topic or that this isn't in the wrong section, but my A/C is now dead and I need to replace all of my A/C hoses apparently, would anyone happen to know a place in Toronto or on the net where I could find replacement A/C hoses for a 1992 SC400? Apparently the A/C is working fine, but the hoses are cracked and need to be replaced (leaking but still blows hot air), so if anyone could direct me to what I need, it would save me from replacing the entire unit and paying an arm and a leg for something that could be repaired. Thanks for your help, please respond soon if possible.

Well that is also the problem, Kenshaw Lexus is now being quite irritating by not telling me which hoses, they are telling me that all of them have to be replaced and that the system also needs to be "modded" to correspond with "the newer A/C system" used by Lexus. I see this as mainly a bunch of BS, and am picking up my car this afternoon since they are also jerking me around with something else, which I have taken care of already. The A/C is putting out air, but it is hot and there does seem to be a leak somewhere in the system, if it is the hose or hoses then I would like to know where I can get any of them (going to get someone else to look at it since they have to replace my window regulator anyways, which Kenshaw refused to do... "your motor needs to be replaced even though it works, since we do not replace the regulator seperately", bs, Scarborough lexus just told me they can do it on Monday for $800 less). I don't think that they did go bad at once, but my system was like this for a while, so it could have slowly gotten worse, cold weather and all means I don't really use it till around June.

go to a regular mechanic, they will put in a dye and tell you exactly where it is leaking from.

run from the stealer(dealer)

Sounds like they want to do a R-12a to R-134a refrigerant switch, requiring new hoses, dryer and many other parts.

to do the conversion no hoses and driers are needed.

juss to clarify, the R-12 to R-134 conversion is what every dealer will tell you since they cannot recharge an R-12 system by law. but im not sure you have to replace all the hoses for that.

One of my friends just started working at a new shop in Toronto and had one of his buddies repair the problem for me, apparently one of the hoses were torn. Funny how the stealer (lol, like your term) wanted 1100 for the same problem and the refit, I was charged 355 (that price includes tax and labour). Thanks for all the help, A/C works fine.

A basic R12 to R134a conversion will probably not fix leaks in the AC system, and 13 yrs of service is decent life for hoses.
