Greetings fellow enthusiasts,

I'm new to Club Lex, been tied up over at is300.net for the past year or so, but it's down, so I figured I'd come here for advice on my Es3.

I'm just past the 60k tune up. I'm just curious how much any of you paid for that service interval. A dealer in Chicago says it'll cost me about 800 bucks!!! YIKES! Seems a bit absurd. Does anyone know if you can have it done at a Toyota dealership for cheaper? And whether Lexus would honor that (warranty etc)? That'd help me, since my nearest Lex dealership is 2 hours away. Any insight would be great. Thanks

welcome to the club. I actually had the Lexus dealer suggest I have some work done at the Toyota dealership next door to save some $$'s. Generally, the Lexus dealer charges about $95/hr whereas the Toyota dealer charges about $75. The 60k service is expensive. Not sure what the layout for the ES300 is, but on my SC300, you have to take out the throttle body just to change out the spark plugs.
Although the Toyota dealer could probably do just as good a job, the pre-owned warranty may not recognize the work. Best bet is to call the number and check with them.
Good luck!

Hey Thanks for your tips I'll call Lexus and see what they say, of course the Lexus dealer would certainly discourage going to Toyota. Hopefully Lexus corporate does not.
