radiator sensor light

Default radiator sensor light

hi, im new to the forums and i was wondering what the light on the top left of the gauge is? the light looks like a bird cage. its from a 92 sc400 and i was told it was the radiator sensor light but i want to know what the light is suppose to tell me? whenever i turn on the car it's always on. is something wrong with the radiator or something? thanks

That's the low engine coolant level warning light. Details on pg 27 of the owners manual. No manual? Register at www.lexus.com and they will send you a free one .

I'm no expert on this, hopefully someone else that is will reply soon. In the meantime, my guess is you got a failure of the sensor, that white tube (with two wires coming out of it) that screws into the coolant overlow tank (circled in the pic below). You can replace the sensor with a new one from the stealership, or bypass the sensor circuitry to get that light out and live without a low coolant sensor. It's not essential- I've seen some SC400's without them, like the 95 below:

My only guess on how to bypass it is to connect the two wires together and see if the light goes out.
