Can anyone recommend a mechanic that is familiar with and can do maintenance work on my '92 SC300? I'm wanting to do 60k service stuff like timing belt changes and not wanting to pay dealer rates.

Try Luxury Motors in Downers Grove. They are down the street from McGrath Westmont. They have a tech that is Lexus trained. I've used for scheduled maint. on 3 GS400s

 

are you referring to Bill C or someone else at Luxury?

 

I think Bill might be the service manager, I'm not sure. The same tech has always worked on my car, so they probably give the Lexus jobs to him.

I happened to meet a lexus mechanic in the chgoland area. Actually, he lives out in the burbs, but the kicker is that he has a pneumatic lift built in his garage at home! I have not had any work done by him yet, so I can't attest to his abilities or service. I am going to schedule some normal maintenance stuff with him within the next couple of weeks so I'll let you all know my opnion then if you're at all interested.
Also, I'd like to make sure he is ok w/ me sending folks from this forum to him first.
If you're interested in using him, send me a private message and I'll give you the specifics. After I've used him and asked his permission.
