I have a 99 RX300 with 85k miles that generally runs beautifully and is well maintained. However lately I am concerned about the way my car reacts when I initially put it into gear (it's an automatic). It seems be a bit difficult to put it into reverse when I first get into the car - it is a hard shift and the car seems to kind of jolt a bit. It does it both when putting it into reverse and when putting it into drive at first, it does get better after a while. Does anyone else have this experience? Should I be concerned?...
O.K, this is the first time in CL that I've ever recommend you to doing this. Try to disconnect the negative battery terminal and this will reset the learn memory of the ECM.
Does your transmission fluid have a good red color? If it's black, perhaps a fluid change or complete flush if it has been a while since last serviced. The RX uses toyota type T-IV fluid only.
