Default Lug nuts

My first post--As a new Member-- I bought a 1997 es300 about four months ago. The car had new tires when I purchased it and I need to remove one to find a weard rattling on the right front. Here is the problem--Some Idiot has tightened the lug nuts so tight that I had to use an extension on a lug wrench to break four of the regular nuts. The special adapter, that is in the tool kit , is "slipping" and will not loosen the remaining nut. I am a mechanic and I know how to use these adapters. Once it slipped, I stopped short of ruining the special nut. I don't think this adapter was not used to tighten the nit when the tires were replaced. Are all of these adapters the same or are they unique to each car?

Are you talking about the McGard wheel lock key? If so, there are about 10 different keys. If you want a replacement key, you have to go to the dealer and order one. I think they're only like 8 bucks or something.

Yes thats the tool I have. My only problem would be that the quality of a new one may not be any better then the new one that came with the car ! Guess it worth a try.---THANKS---

haha Same thing happened to me, its all good. I only had ONE of those little bastard locks on that I couldnt get off, so I ended up having to take it to Toyota (only time Ive ever brought my car in to a shop ), and they took off the lock for $17. Now I just run lugnuts with no locks (soooo much easier)
