THANKS MBURNICKAS FOR THE KIND WORDS
Thanks again for your responses. I will go the entire 12,000 miles before changing the filter again, I promise. I used the XL-7500 once log ago, but decided to move up to the Series 3000 engine oils. The original AMSOIL products are what I call the "ASL" oils because that is what amsoil calls them. I started with those. They are good for the 25,000 mile interval, and the series 3000 oils in 0W-30 is good for 35,000 miles, or 1 year, with filter changes every 12000 miles. That is what I am using in my GS4 right now
I THOUGHT that the AMSOIL filters are actually HASTINGS filters. I did not know that they were good for 12000 miles, but I guess they are. Are they the same HASTINGS filters you can buy off the shelf, or are they specially made to AMSOIL specifications?
Looks like I will have to go back to oil analysis if I intend to go the 35,000 miles between changes. The analysis costs are high, and by then, I figure I will just change it before 35,000 miles. The verdict is still out on this. If I did not drive so many miles a year, I wouldn't go with the Series 3000 oil. It is easier to change the oil sooner.
My car runs great, and if I get the slightest hint that something is not quite right, I will change it early.
THANKS AGAIN for agreeing with my assessment of the comment that poster made about AMSOIL not being worthy of being sold on store shelves. REALLY STRANGE INDEED!

alright gserep1. you read him a lecture, enough. you got to admit though that lots of products sold only as mail order or internet order are indeed crap. I can understand where the assumption is coming from. For example, I would never buy a piece of stereo equipment just because someone said it sounds good. I have to listen to it myself. So, the oil is the same way I guess. Once I see that it's good, I will start using it. Just like I said, I will send Mobil1 for testing after 7500 and will use Amsoil. After 7500 with Amsoil, I will send an Amsoil sample. Will see what the comparison shows. I still beleive that Mobil1 is an excellent oil. Will have to see if Amsoil is better.

I have used both Amsoil Series 2000 5W30 and Mobil 1 0W30 and 5W30 in my '99 GS4. Never noticed a bit of difference in perfromance with any of the three, not a drop of consumption between 7500 mile oil change intervals.
I decided to go with Mobil 1 exclusively because of the fact that I'm just not comfortable going with extended oil change intervals. Both Mobil 1 and Amsoil have exhibited very good longevity in UOA samples posted on the Bobistheoilguy website.
After all the reading I have done, my opinion is that if you're going to go with oil change intervals of 7500 miles or less, the added expense of Amsoil is probably not worthwhile, Mobil 1 is a fine oil or that type of user. If you're one of those people who really want to stretch out how long you go between oil changes past 10,000 miles, you would want to go with the Amsoil.
My other comment is that some of the people who get all wound up about what motor oil they're using ought to be changing out their coolant, tranny fluid, power steering and brake fluid as diligently as they worry about the motor oil. Amsoil, Redline and Mobil 1 all make some great products for those uses as well...............
