I have 95 es300 and I decided to change my PCV valve. As i was trying to yank the sucker out, I managed to snap of the top half. In try to yank it out with some pliers, i managed to pull the remaining surround and after a last attempt, the bottom half fell in. I think I'll be able to get it out with needle nose pliers, but how bad is it if i leave it in? it's a large chunk since it's the bottom half. Any ideas as to how to get it out? HELP!

 

No you can't leave it in there and you will need to get a new gromet to replace the broken one. If you can't get it with the needle nose you will need to take off the valve cover. Good luck.

 

DO NOT START THE CAR UNTIL IT IS OUT!!!!!!!!!!! Foreign object+oil system = engine death.

if a chunk of that goes through an oil passage, your eingien will spin a bearing. and you willneed a new one.

 

thanks for the help. i figured it'd be bad news to start it. so i'm gonna try the pliers idea this morning when it's bright out...hopefully a good tug will pull it through w/ a good pair of needle nose or some pliers. i really don't wanna take the valve cover off, especially since i've never done it. a bit intimidating to me. so hopefully things will work out....they have to.

 

if you can see it and you have one of those pickel grabber things, you might be able to get to it.

 

fortunately after having some needle nose pliers, a little bit of patience, a little bit of anxiety (hahahaha), and some minor ingenuity, i was able to extract all of the pcv valve from them top of the motor. after a couple attempts w/ the pliers, i was only able to pull out little pieces. then a stroke of luck....the piece seemed to rip. once i got a good hold of the bottom half the valve, i got a big chunk. unfortunately, it seemed to have broken into 3 smaller pieces and it was too hard to pick them out. so i just took a funnel like object, stuck it in end of the vacuum and sucked the stuff right out. checked a couple of times to make sure and ta da! it's all gone. so if you mess up, like i did, don't worry. thanks for the help and support everyone!
