Default 2003 LS430 Scraping Frame Slightly on Steep Driveway

Hello,

I have a very steep driveway that slopes inwards towards our townhouse. At the top of the driveway I have another slight slope away from the house on the sidewalk.

Due to the long wheelbase of this car, it is slightly scraping the frame rails as it goes over the crest. I looked under the car and doesn't seem to be any major damage, just some scuff marks on the big frame rails. However, the sound sends shiver down my spine.

Are there any major problem that can occur from repeated cycles of this? I'm experimenting with wooden pressure treated 2x6's under the back tires to lift it slightly.

Anyone had similar problems? Any practical, cheap solutions?

Thanks.

Can you provide any photos of the slopes? Or, just go over the slopes very, very slow to avoid any sudden drop from the weight of the LS.

Like any of us with slammed cars can attest to, you must take driveway approaches at an angle. I get over things this way that would otherwise get my car completely stuck if I tried to go in head on.

Here it is. We have a shared driveway. The car shown in the picture is our neighbor's car. I took this some time ago to show her awesome parking job. I have to park the Lexus in the spot next to her's. This would be parallel to her car, but coming out of the page.

We get snow here too. Shortly I will feel the pain. I did have a RWD pickup with no ABS or traction control and managed though.

Car scrapes very slightly on the frame rails near the back of the car where the driveway meets the sidewalk.

When my neighbor is gone I can do this. However when she is there, it is very tight and I need to go out almost straight up. We do not get on very well so there won't be much help from her to accommodate any alternate parking arrangements. That's another story.......
