Default Transmission Filter

I just called a lexus dealer to order the transmission filter so I can change both fluid and filter.

They told me there wasn't a filter to change.

Is this right? I did a search and found lots of info on power flushes, but no filter info.

Thanks!

I believe the SC400's transmission has a screen, and not a filter. It's not necessary to change the screen as flushing it should clean it out. Hope this helps!

Actually I did a few searches using "transmission screen" and came up with some more info. It's all out there man!

Wrong, both cars have a filter.

Wrong, they actually have a filter mesh screen. It can be cleaned. It's all one in the same. Call the dealer.

I've seen the one in my SC400 and it is indeed a cleanable screen. You certainly could just buy a new one if you so choose. It's real damn easy to just pull the old one, clean it and put it back in. And it'll save you about $50 too.

Thanks...

I will use "transmission screen" instead of "transmission filter".

I guess the search button can't read my mind....

Cool

Just clean it when doing a fluid change & re-use!

you can clean it and re-use it but the screen should only be about $35 or so. That being said, it's up to you.

I took the tranny pan off my old SC400. And when putting it back on I used high temp sealant.
