Default Passenger door won't open from outside

Door opens from inside, but not outside. I've done the search, which was somewhat helpful, got my door panel off, picked up part number 69293-12030 (little plastic piece) from toyota for $3.23 and tried to install it, but i can't quite seem to find where it goes. oh, i've got a 95 es300. I found the broken one on the rod, but i don't know where the rod actually connects to the latching system. Can anyone help? i can't pay any significant amount of money since i'm moving in less than a month. Somebody help!!!

You should invest some money into a Lexus Repair Manual. It's well worth the money as they've got repair instructions, diagrams, wiring schematics. Good Luck.

If you're still out there, here's what I found in my 94. Look inside the door up towards the outside latch. Actuate the latch while you are looking at it and you'll see a metal piece sticking straight out into the space in the door (perpendicular to the plane of the door) with a 1/4 to 3/8 inch hole in it. The end of the rod should go through that hole. The rod should have a lot of play in it to get it into the hole.

Had the same prob on my GFs 97 ES3. Just got it fixed. Had to improvise. The yellow plastic piece at the end of the link that connects to the door handle broke off and the link fell out. It was in 2 halves, half broke off and didn't hold the link in place. I broke the other half off. Attached the link back to the handle and used a paper clip to lock it in place. I cut the small loop on the paper clip in the shape of a U to lock the link in place. PM me if this is unclear.

DONT ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW. I broke the arm off my door lock mechanism, and had to replace. All it is the little yellow clip. Snap on, go about your business.
