Default Windshield wipers

Hi Guys

I have a problem with my windshield wipers not clearing water off my windshield when doing speeds of 80mph or more.

I have fitted new Bosch wipers but no go

Does anyone else have this problem?

Still doesn't work for him. Same problem.

I personally do not have that problem, but i can tell you that your problems will be solved with the addition of a product called "rain X" . after applying this, you will be lucky to even need the wipers at all.

simply do a google search on Rain X and you'll get the info you need.

Thumbs up

Agreed. I've used Rain-X on every car I've ever owned and it's good stuff.

It's an alcohol based glass protectant that literally repels water. Droplets land on the glass and just roll off like a duck's back. I have it on all my glass on the car. I never use my wipers, it's not needed. Unless of course of torrential rain in which case gravity isn't fast enough to remove the water so I help it with the wipers.

Anyway it's available almost anywhere. Wal-Mart, K-Mart and just about any corner auto parts store. I'd recommend it to everyone here.

if the windshield has been heavily soiled with (tar, bugs, tree sap and grime) there is something called "window peeler"

also check the automotive detailing section and do a search. There has been threads discussing details on how to clean your windshield.

i'm with the rain-x crowd

if i'm doing 80 or more, no wipers necessary. the water is too scared to even land on the glass.

Bazz:

If you're having problems trying to source Rain-X in the UK, shoot me a pm and I'll ship you a lifetime supply no worries.

I ship internationally quite often so just let me know if you need a hand with this one.

Use Toyota OEM refills or PIAA wipers.

Rain-X does work pretty well. But I have new Bosch wipers on my car and they work fine at all speeds. Although I'm trying PIAA next time. . . Bosch wipers aren't worth the money. . . IMO

I thought I was getting the same blades that came on my Lexus when I went to a Toyota dealership parts counter. Beware, they may not the same. The Toyota parts counter had black rubber standard refill blades that squeaked with every movement of the wiper arm.

I went to the Lexus counter and the blades where a different color and feel. Graphite or teflon coated I believe. They were also skinnier than the Toyota blades.

I have tried Rain-X applied to the window in the past and it helps the water sheet and bead off incredibily. However, I also noted that Bosch blades being used simultaneaously wore out in 3 months rather than the standard 6 months.

I have used the PIAA blades and they are pricey but work very well. The silicone applicant helps but I found this to be an attractant for dirt and made bugs stick on harder. If that makes sense.

All in all, I find that the OEM blades purchased at the Lexus parts counter and not the Toyota parts counter to be superior to any of my previous blades or chemical treatments (Rain-X or PIAA silicone). They are not that pricey either. $8 and $11 for 20 and 24 inch refills respectively.
