Default Water-sloshing sound coming from dash

Does anybody have a sloshing sound from their dashboard? It sounds like a bucket of water inside the dashboard sloshing around when you turn or something. No water is on the inside of the car, and the AC works like a champ. I'm hoping that this is normal, and I'm just hypersensitive becasue the car is so quiet inside.......is it wishful thinking, or is there somehting wrong?

I get the same occurrence in my ES. It usually happens when I go out on my 1st drive in the morning after shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. I think this is normal as it could just be the fluid in the coolant reservoir "sloshing" around

Default Thanks....that sounds possible

It didn't seem like a problem if I don't see any leaks, or have any AC problems, but I wanted to be sure it wasnt a sign of something to come.

Thanks-

Hmm. . . on a hot day or when you drive your car for a long distance (assuming you use the A/C constantly), pull up your dirver's side floormat and check the carpeting by feel. If it's damp, you may have an issue with your A/C (I think (I may be wrong) but when drain hose for your A/C evaporator is clogged water can build up and get onto your carpeting).

Thanks...I'll check that out. Here in Austin, TX, its already reached 100 degrees this year.

AC=LIFE SUPPORT SYSTEM

I just bought the car yesterday, and I'm having the dealer give it a check-up right now, before I actually drop the cash down. You know how it is....its not really my car until its in my driveway, but it should be a done deal.

I'll ask about the sound and get them to look closer at it...

thanks

Sound like air pocket in the cooling system. You have to check the coolant in the radiator when the car is cold and top it off. This will take care of the noise.

Hmmm...interesting.

What does the coolant flow through, so that I could hear it in the cabin? The heater core?

Yeah, if you turn the heat on it will flow through the heater core and some air pocket may tapped inside the heater core.
You can turn the heater to Max and let the car run to the operating temp. Then let it cool down and top off the coolant.

Talking

Cool, thanks for the feedback. My new baby got a full 60K tune-up today, although it now has 87K. With the coolant replaced properly, it shouldn't make that noise anymore, if it is an airbubble in the coolant system. The seller couldn't find the reciept for the 60K tune-up, so agreed (too easily) to pay to get it done now at 87K. He probably didn't get it done at 60K, but it all checks out sweet, and the guy who did the work says its cream-puff. I gota have this car!

I get my new car tomorrow!! I'm gonna have to change my name!

Thanks for all the feesback everyone. I'll report back on whether the sloshing is gone or not.

Also...tune in to see my new baby.....I'll post pics of my first GS400 tomorrow.

Just send a PM to DaveGS4 for a name change (you won't lose your post count). He'll be happy to do that.

Congrats on your new ride. You might want to think about posting your pics in the Gallery section, and then linking them to your picture thread created from whatever forum, most likely the GS forum.
