Have you ever used hand Grease Gun from Sears, Kragen, AutoZone, ... to lubribate your Lexus chasis? Does it work? Can the grease get into the hole easily?
Yes, but only the Lexus SUV's like the LX450 & LX470 have grease fittings (zerk fittings) . Lexus cars don't have any grease fittings so a grease gun is never needed.
Interesting, I never knew that only the LX had grease fittings. Then again, I've only worked on an LX
I have a cheapo hand pump grease gun and it can take some time. At least its cheap
I've never worked on an LX, but the 2004 scheduled maintenance guide says to grease the driveshaft bushing and propeller shaft at certain intervals. So I would assume there are grease fittings on these components.
I was told by my buddy that his mechanic uses a grease gun on his car when he gets his oil change.....he is a blonde when it comes to cars and doesn't even know how to change his oil haha. and i thought he was talking out of his a$$
I got a 95 gs and what exactly is this grease gun for and what does it lubricate if its even needed??
I always use bearing grease on the oil seal in my oil filters.
There are the door latches, trunk/rear latch and hood latch that are greased on all autos and SUVs.
Drive shafts may not have grease fittings, the shaft or shafts are disassembled and greased at the splines. U-joint cups greased individually. My old Volvo was serviced this way.
My landcruiser uses three different grease types and is factory equipped with fourteen grease fittings and two hub grease plugs. I use an old Sears and two Blue Point cartridge guns. They operate on a vaccum principle.
Then, of course, is the caliper grease needed for our disk brakes.
