You can try www.books4cars.com'. I think they got some Lexus manuals. A new set of RM from Lexus will cost over $200.00 for both volumes.

Read my page on this, #6 specifically: http://www.lexls.com/repairmanual.html

If you want a hard copy books4cars has the best prices I've seen so far. However, I have everything on my computer (TIS info) and just print what I need when I need to have the instructions in the garage . Ten bucks is a steal for all this info!

WOW! TIS looks promising. I'll sign up for them later
Any idea if they have everything the repair manual has? It sounds like they are just good scans of the repair manual. Is that the deal?

Yup, they have everything the repair manual has and more. Collision repair manual, technical training, wiring diagrams, the works. I wouldn't call the TIS files good scans of the manual at all, I would call these the original files that the manual is printed from. I am a digital imaging professional, these files are the real deal .

One note about using TIS: Make sure you download the Adobe acrobat reader 6.0.1 patch after you sign up, otherwise the pdf files will not load.

How many megs would you say everything for 1 car is?
If its a lot, I'll wait til I'm at school to use their nice bandwidth the download all of it in one day. (^_^)

Hmmmm I don't have time to count all the file sizes, but a quick look shows about 75Mb for the repair manual alone on my car. I've got about 175Mb in pdf files if everything on my car is included. Newer cars will probably have even more Mb's due to more complicated engines. I can't remember how much time it took me to download everything, but let's just say you need to be comfortable . It's going to take at least a couple hours to download the repair manual.....here's the trade-off: TIS is cheap but you need to spend your time to get the info. Good luck!

I signed up at techinfo.lexus.com today.
There is so much stuff to download. My hands are getting sore from all the clicking and I only have about 20 megs of pdg files so far
I guess they really dont want you downloading everything. Then again, $10 for a day to download is better then $200 for a book that can get ruined.

I know it's a lot of clicking and saving, but it's only $10! I told you the trade-off was time . Just grab a few CD's and plan on at least 2 hours then you'll have the repair manual at the minimum. I wish they had each chapter available for download but they don't want it to be that easy. Of course, once I had all the files I combined them so I could print chapters quickly. Unfortunately I do stand by the agreement so I'm not going to be posting the files on my site or anywhere else. Posting the files is a copyright violation.

I ran a search for the word "the" and downloaded everything I wanted (the entire repair manual) in a few hours. I would not attempt this with dial-up.

Thanks EARL! Now I'm a 1st gen GS expert!
