I have replaced rotors many times on my non-four wheel drive cars many times. However, I once tried to replace front rotors on an old Mitsu Montero and couldn't figure it out. Ended up taking it to a shop and they told me they had to remove the hub to get to the rotors. I saw him do part of the job, and he had to remove the nuts in the center of the hub. Big pain.
Does anyone know if the LX 470 rotors come out like on most cars? Usually all that's involved is removing the caliper, the caliper carrier, and then one retaining screw on the rotors. A good whack on the rotor, and they just drop out.
The front rotor on the LX470 is the hub type and you will need some special socket to remove the big nuts that hold the wheel bearing in place. So, take it to the shop.
