Default Tranmission fluid

I know that for the sc400 we should use toyota type IV tranmission fluid. Just curious if anyone has used pennzoil multipurpose tranmission fluid? It says it replaces type IV fluid.

I wouldn't use it. Stick with type IV or dexron with lubragaurd
protection.

I have known people who have gotten away with using Mobil 1 ATF, but I can mention a horror story here with a friend's ES300 here in Mexico having non type-IV put in.

I stay with Type-T IV fluid because this's really expensive experimental( $7K for a new tranny).

My 93 shop manual read Type II (IV) for my 93 SC400. It also say you don't have to use type II or IV for SC300. So I think SC and LS 400 trans. need toyota trans. fluid. But SC, ES 300 don't have to use toyota trans. fluid. Don't know about GS...
