Auto hight control

I have a smaller “camping” trailer, a travel trailer, a boat trailer and a utility trailer and combined with the backup camera AHC is amazing. To be able to back up to the hitch and raise the truck into the trailer hitch or back the trailer into its spot, drop the jack and then drop the truck out of the hitch is great and to be able to do it alone may have saved my marriage. (Jk) I have pulled my trailer to the Arctic circle and back with the truck dropping to allow access and egress without any concerns about the AHC straining or even being noticeable.

Strange timing. Yesterday my automatic lowering quit. I can manually lower it after stopping using the control in the console, but for the life of me I can't get it to lower automatically when the engine is turned off. And, before anyone asks, I know there is a button that turns the system off. I have cycled it several times, no change. I've opened and closed all the doors, no change. I've opened and closed the rear hatch, no change.
Where the car is parked makes no difference. Always worked in garage, and now it doesn't. Won't work in parking lots. Just won't work.
Any ideas? 2018 LX with 6,000 miles.

On my 2013, if a window is open (even a fraction of an inch down), the rear hatch is open, or a door is open, the height control function appears to be shut off. It won't automatically drop to low, even if the dash button is pushed to automatic, and the center console switch doesn't work either. This is a nuisance when I am hooking up or unhooking my horse trailer. Have to remember to have everything closed up to drop to low for hookup, and again to drop to low to unhitch. I'm not sure if it's just quirk of my particular LX, or this is normal, but I've learned to live with it. With windows, doors, and hatch closed up securely, everything in the height control area works.

Windows up - check
tailgate closed -check
engine of , gear in park , foot out of brake - check,
maybe weather related?
like I stated before, only intermittent problem.
maybe angle of steering wheels ?
what else ?

seatbelt unlatched? If my seatbelt is done up it has to be undone.

Nope, that isn't it either. Won't do it with or without seatbelt connected.
Only other thing I can think of is something (leaf, mud, etc.) covering the sensor that keeps it from lowering if there is an obstacle in the way.
