LX570 - What to Look For
Hi -
First time post. My wife decided that she wants an LX570. We're looking in the range of 2008-2010 due to price. I love the LX but am a little concerned about the fuel mileage (I own a Tundra and it sucks) but I've been overruled. I'd love to get the collective wisdom of the group on this purchase. If y'all are in my shoes, what would you be looking at when inspecting this vintage of LX? Are there any reasons why I should not purchase this vintage and wait for a newer one? I'd really appreciate the help as I'm apprehensive about spending 30K on a vehicle that is nearly 10 years old.
Thanks,
Darryl

For basic what-to-look-for stuff, start here> https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/200-series-faq.908224/ Go to lexus.com and into the owners section. Set up a new account and log in. You can input the VIN and see any dealer service on the truck since it was first delivered.
The reason for price in the $30's for an older truck is simply because reliability overall is better than anything else, especially its competitors. LX and Land Cruisers are built on a dedicated assembly line at Toyota Auto Body in Japan, using 100% Japanese content parts.
I would recommend a pre-purchase inspection by a shop not part of the deal. Definitely get the truck on a lift, remove the under-body sheet metal, and look for rust. Ask when the AHC fluid was changed last. Good luck...you and wife will love the LX.

Thanks. I buy and sell aircraft for a living so I'm used to having inspections done and will do so on this one. On aircraft, I know what to look for to rule out a bad one quickly so that's what I'm looking for. I'll check out that other thread. Thanks Again.

RUST is the only thing that kills these beasts. If it's been maintained and does not have any rust your good for 500k miles +. These LC/LX's were designed by Toyota to last 25 years in a third world country.

I have confidence in the LX. Just make sure all routine services were done on time.
To me a 2008 LX is not really vintage. We traded our old 2000 LX470 (bought new in 2000) IN 2013 with 280K+ miles (for another brand new 2013) LX570. Our old LX470 WAS STILL RELIABLE, but was lacking the modern electronics. Our old LX WAS SOLD AND GONE FROM THE DEALER'S LOT THE NEXT DAY!!! There is a high demand for these WORLD WIDE.

I would still have the vehicle gone over by a good mechanic. The LX is a great vehicle but when out of warranty, if something goes wrong, repairs can be catastrophic financially.
There are many on the road with over 200,000 miles and more. No doubt made to last.

I found out that our lexus get more gas per mileage if we are driving a little faster on highway for example my 14" GX got 24 mpg when I cruising on highways at 80 mph vs to 20.5 mpg at 70mph, and my 17" LX got 20mpg when cruising 75-80 mph, and same thing with my 07" IS350 i got 26 mpg when cruising 75mph and only get 22.5 mpg when cruising 70mph, that weird?

I am thinking there is a miscalculation.
The LX would get MUCH better mileage at 55-60mph. Mileage will decrease the faster you go.
Mileage does not get better with speed.

You will get the best mpg probably at about 35-40 mph (the aerodynamics of LX is probably slightly better than F-150).

Your mileage was dropping WAY before 80. Best mileage would be around the 40-45mph.
For a second I thought I was in the GX forum.

2008-2010 lx
I would avoid the 2008 and 2009 LX. Don't like 1st year cars. Also, 2010 has destination assist. 2008 and 2009 do not. 2010 has USB connector for ipad. 2008 and 2009 have a hard disk to download music to if that option was purchased. If you can, buy a California LX. No rust issues here. I have a 2010 LX with 150K miles and it runs pretty much like new. No rust on it either. Best car I have ever owned!
