My 2016 had the software update but the transmission still stumbles a bit in second gear up shifts or accelerating after slowing down. It's better with the update, but still there. Perhaps the 2018 "fix" will apply to older models with the 8-speed.

I thought it's always parking brake on, trans in park, foot on brake, and push the button to turn it off.

A 200 series (Land Cruiser and LX) can be moved with trans in drive and parking brake off. There are no settings you can change. Not sure what you expect from the dealer.

Off topic, do you know why your garage floor isn't level?

it goes forward but in N don't go backward it stops, I think its a safety option. mine don't move backward.

The 2016+ LX570 has hill ascend hold meaning it doesn't roll back if you're on an incline. It works in both Neutral and Drive position, however, if you turn the vehicle off while it is in Drive, the vehicle will roll back.

My wife's 16 LX is experiencing some of these symptoms - there is some hesitation between 1st and 2nd gear at lower speeds when you need to accelerate. did the ECU update and issue persists - she'll take it up with the Lexus dealership again but of course the "we can't fix what we can't replicate" story applies...

We have the same issue in two of our cars in Poland both cars are 5,7 with 8speed 2019.
Car sometimes does not want to accelerate from lower speeds .
We got the lexus technician to replicate the issue and send it to Lexus (or toyota) Poland and they told us at first that we are right that the change from gear 8 sometimes takes up to 3 seconds ( thats a lot if you are trying to overtake ) and that they will try to find some kind of fix .
So after a month the changed mind ...... now they say its only 1.5 seconds delay and its up to spec .
They explained that on lower speeds when car is in gear 8 and you press more than 95% of accelerator pedal the car needs to change to gear 2 or gear 3 and at that speed it will always first go to gear 5 ( tranny design ) and that its impossible to change it with system update cause it might damage the tranny . I will copy paste the response we got from them under this post . I want to add that they are telling everybody that its only this car that has problems but we have 2 cars with the same problem .

No visible malfunction of the box on the attached data.

Registered data show that the delay during acceleration is about 1.5 seconds, which is in accordance with the specifications.



Some more details.

- Why are there two types of downshifting, direct and indirect by 5th gear?

① From gear 8 directly to gear 2.

② From gear 8 to gear 3 through gear 5.



Because

①Direct gear reduction from 8th to 2nd gear is possible under the following conditions:

- Driving in 8th gear at a speed of 60-75 km / h.

- Full (over 95%) quick depress of the accelerator pedal.



② If the vehicle is in 8th gear at a speed above 75 km / h, gear change from 8 to 3 occurs through 5th gear, even if the accelerator pedal is fully depressed (over 95%).

In addition, if the vehicle moves at a lower speed in the range of 60 to 75 km / h in 8th gear and the accelerator pedal is not fully depressed (below 95%), in such conditions the gear will also be reduced from 8 to 3 by 5th gear .





-Why is the reduction from gear 8 to gear 3 carried out by gear 5?



It is not possible to reduce directly from gear 8 to 3. A direct reduction from gear 8 to 3 would require changing the position of 2 clutches at the same time.

(Such a switch would require a change from B-1 and C-2 to C1 and C3)

In order to avoid such a situation, the change is implemented by gear 5.



-Is it possible to shorten the downshift time?

Further shortening the downshift time would result in jerks during the shift and increased risk of damage to the box.

Try to stop on a backsloping road, put the gearbox in neutral, release the brakes, will the car move backwards?
It will not move
Turn off the engine, it will start rolling backwards !!

It's a completely normal hill-holding function. Very handy when towing.

Yes it's a safety / convenience feature (hill hold / roll back). Other manufacturers like Mercedes has had such feature for a very long time and it's quite useful.
