so i add my new to me 2018 lx570 to the customer portal, and eventually find something that says it is a system update, but it says there IS NO update available. i am finding this hard to bellieve, and just assume i am looking at the wrong thing.
Has anyone updated their map data base in the nav system? if so where did you find the download, and was it free or did you have to pay?
so, has this changed? I can no longer download to a USB flash drive my nave updates, but need to do it at a dealership?
It looks like from above there should be a new update available every year.
Two different situations involved:
1) Multi-Media Updates are free from the Website, download to a flash drive and DIY.
This will update Bluetooth versions and voice recognition functions. This is NOT a Nav
data update. Recent CL threads on how few and far between these have become.
2) Navigation Data Update from the dealer involves sending your money for licensing fees
to download the newest Point of Interest data, new roads and places as of last autumn when
the files were finalized. This does not change any screen resolutions, input hardware or
processor speeds. "Playing the latest LP on your turntable does not improve the speakers..."

i am ok with that. going to be doing a lot of traveling, and an updated map makes sense, even if it is $$$$. the lexus customer portal is very confusing, at one place they are saying you can get the download, but in the FAQs the contradict it and say it is dealer sales only.
