I would set my eyes on an 18" tire/wheel combination as 1/2" less with 20's won't make a difference you can feel. 18's will impact the "plush ride" better than 20's and be great off road too.

 

The grill is what affects the approach angle. 20" rims with taller tires will still be limited by the grill.

 

I have also considered buying dedicated 18” rims with the real mccoy off road tires and then just switching them as needed. Lots of off-road enthusiasts with these do that. An LX with 18s and knobby tires would be unstoppable off road.

I would use the standard rims with all seasons to maximize the plush ride.

As absolutely sick (in a good way) as the newest ones look, they did sacrifice angles to make it happen. That matters to me. I plan to take my insurance deductible down to $250 and off road this thing until I’m blue in the face. If the paint gets scratched big deal. The undercarriages of these things are ridiculous, can handle virtually anything.

 

The pre 16 model looks and technology are outdated, I owned both and I would always buy the latest within budget, it makes difference to have the latest gadgets inside the car and makes the driving experience more enjoyable.

 

I prefer the ‘15 styling as I think it will age better over time, and I plan on keeping for 25 years.

The interiors on the newer ones are a massive
upgrade though.
