Default Looking at an '11 LX

Hey all! I hope I'm allowed over from the LS 400 side for a thread or two. I'm looking at an LX 570 for the wife since we have our second child on the way. There is an 11 up the road from me for $21k or so with 145k miles. I could care less about miles with these for the most part. It has 3 accidents on the carfax all of which seem to be minor. The worst looks like a deer hit several years back. You can tell the bumper cover is not factory paint but only to my pretty good eye for it.

I'll need to finance a little to keep some cash stores for emergencies but am concerned financing for a 9 year old vehicle with 145k miles will be tough. If that's the case, I wonder if a 2013-2015 or so will be better so i can get a reasonable rate, term, payment etc... I see the 13 style has some different updates including front fascia and entertainment.

Is there any reason to shy away from the mid $20's 2011 models vs the mid $30's 2013+ models?

This 2011 is in nearly mint interior shape with a couple small bumps and bruises on the outside that doesn't bother me much.

Thanks!

[off topic mode] I won't rant about financial managers on the radio, other than to say we follow Dave Ramsey about 3/4 of the time. I don't want to be one of the 30% of Americans who can't cover a $500 emergency with cash. Having little guys, there are always surprises.[/off topic mode]

God bless and have fun with #2.

Agreed for the most part. The house is paid off, zero auto debt, zero credit card debt etc... We're debt free. We have a good stash of cash for emergencies and don't mind looking at taking on a reasonable auto note to help keep the credit score up.

The catbird seat is the place to be. I'd pick the newer of the two, assuming service records are available and all TSB's have been addressed. With two trucks that close in year, the decision might just be the color.

I actually just got a 2011 with similar mileage about 3 1/2 months ago and had no problem getting financing from LFS. Most other lenders will probably shy away from financing for age or mileage or both.

Did you buy it from a Lexus dealer or secure the loan separately from where you purchased the truck?

I'm still wondering if the 2013 is worth the extra $10k over the 2011.

I purchased from a Lexus dealership. Oddly enough, when I was shopping there were less LX's available overall but more from Lexus dealerships now there seem to be more LX's available overall but less from Lexus dealerships.

DCU will also finance a vehicle of that age. They had no issues with my 2009 last year.

The difference is only $5K per year or $10K for 2 years less depreciation. I'd get the later model, as the end of the 200 Series is rapidly approaching.
