Default Considering trading 13’ LS460 L for LX570

i am contemplating switching my LS 460L for a 570. I am a general contractor (I run the office side) but here and there I have to go meet my business partner on site visits and it’s getting old to park the car away and walk. Anyone here done this swap? I love my LS L to death and it has 36k miles but the practicality of an LX is luring
me

I'm assuming you're looking at the LX for it's ability to move over unpaved roads, or no roads.

If that's it, you'll be delighted.

I seriously considered an SUV to replace my 2015 LS460 before ultimately replacing it with a 2017 LS460L. I drove an LX570 for an entire day, and also drove some other large SUVs like the Range Rover, Audi Q7. The LX IMHO is too heavy and lumbering a vehicle to drive every day, more modern SUVs like that Range Rover or that Q7 have a more carlike, lighter feel that would me easier to live with day to day. The LX is great on the highway, but around town and in traffic its kind of a chore IMHO. They ride well, but they're still trucks and they toss you around over parking lot speed humps, railroad tracks, etc. Range Rover and Q7 really don't do that. Now, those other vehicles won't be as reliable as the LX.

For you, I can totally understand the desire to have an SUV since you're on sites a lot, but I would really take an LX for an extended test before I made that swap.

Sounds like the LX570 will be an excellent fit!! Especially for what you are looking to do. Excellent for go anywhere whenever whatever!!

We take the LX570 for highway trips. The RX450h for local runs with wife and kids. My CT200h as a commuter. My RCF for mostly highway full throttle fun runs!!! MB GLA 250 4Matic for my college aged son with occasionally trips to the ski slopes......

inalso have a 2013 460L and have had similar thoughts of getting rid of the 460 for an LX 570. It felt like a major step back in luxury. I still think about it, but the LX is pretty dated. I was hoping to hear news for a totally new LX, but looks like another year or two away. I hate the 3rd row that can’t fold flat and the 2 row doesn’t allow certain options. I actually cross shopped a Platinum Sequoia, but the infotainment in awful.

I agree. I may have to see if I can get a dealer to let me use one for a few days. I love my LS (its my 3rd one). I spent some time in a 2018 Escalade ESV yesterday and it really rode terrible compared to my LS. I assume the LX wont be too far off.

I considered a sequoia for my wife recently and it was so horrifically dated I just couldn't do it. Wound up buying a Limited Premium Sienna and it has 500x better infotainment and extras than sequoia.

I’m a retired power line contractor. I had a LC for about 8 years and 200,000 miles before I replaced it with the LX. I think you would be very happy with the LX, both with the ability to access almost any job site and the comfort on those times that you have customers or colleagues in the truck.
i found that some customers can be turned off by expensive branding like Caddy or MB or RRover but I didn’t feel that Lexus alienated anyone.

So true. Our 2000 LX470 had 280K+ miles before we traded in for a brand new LX570. Our old LX470 was still running strong, but the LX570 was just so tempting..... So we did it.

Just remember that the "other makes and models with the latest electronic gizmos" while on the surface is very nice, but just wait till they start to fail leaving you wondering how long before the tow truck shows up? Especially if you are in the middle of nowhere. I would roll with the LC/LX. Wonder why United Nations uses "mostly LC's" and is the largest buyer of the LC/LX in the world? And NOT Land Rovers/Range Rovers (these are ONLY for the movies).

The LX is still a truck, its truck roots are always there when you're driving it. There are SUV alternatives that are not trucklike in that way yet still have the quality of the LS, but Lexus doesn't make such a vehicle currently.

So I had a 2010 LS that I loooooooved. Wife has a 2016 LX. It rides as good as a truck/suv could (we drove the sequia, GLS, Q7 tooo). I think you'll be happy with the ride quality of the LX and, to your point, the practicality it can provide. Let us know where you end up selling/trading your LS - a 13 Ls with 36k miles is a good find for another CL member here I'm sure =)

I agree on the LS versus the other two being apples to oranges but the LX and Escalade are direct competitors. Even though the slade outsells the LX 4 to 1. I personally would never own a GM product but I now know what that truck is like so I can make a comparison to the LX. They are "supposed" to be the same class.

I have it for sale in the marketplace. i think i incorrectly posted it there. Should I ask a mod to move it to the members classified?

What puts them in the same class is that they're both giant suv's and there's no other place to put them.

They do have the advantage of more storage space...I was able to pack my company-supplied Suburban with 4 Boy Scouts, another Dad and me, and all our stuff for an interesting week camping out at Philmont, NM. I guarantee it all would not fit in a 200 series Toyota or Lexus. During the time I drove that Suburban, intake manifold gaskets were replaced once within warranty and twice after the mileage warranty expired. The transmission also needed replacement at ~ 100K.
