Default Off Road Tires

Ok, I've had my 2011 LX 570 for 2 weeks now and I already want off road tires. My wife thinks I'm crazy! Granted, I don't go off road much, but damn those off road tires look awesome!

Can anyone recommend good all round tires that look rugged and work well in snow and on the highway?

We have Toyo AT II's on my 200, wife's LX, and her 2500 Dodge horse hauler. No issues, and rated for more than max weight in a 200.

That said, nothing works as well in snow as winter tires, e.g., Blizzaks.

Being from the Gulf Coast of Texas, I'm not really sure what that word "snow" means, LOL

Kidding, I've always been a fan of BFG T/A KO2. I've had them on two 4Runners and now my 2011 LX. They are a great all around on and off road tire, although I couldn't tell you about their performance on snow.

I changed my rims to 18" Toyota Land Cruiser rims and put Michelin LTX tires on them. They are excellent on dry and wet pavements, and still very good in dirt, mud and snow. My LX rides much better now.

My experience has been that the rugged looking all around tires do not work well in snow and ice. Dedicated wheel set and winter tires work way better, but look boring. Your call.

You will definitely not be bored using "rugged looking all around tires" on snow and ice...nor will your passengers and other drivers.

I think I found the perfect tire for my LX, the Nokian Rotiiva A/T. An All-Terrain tire that also has the 3PMSF snowflake symbol on the sidewall for the Severe Snow Rating. They are not an LT rating so not as heavy as a Light Truck tire and are silent and smooth on the highway. 275/55/20, just slightly larger than the stock 285/50/20.

It looks good. Of course, they will not be as good as Blizzaks DM-V2 on snow/ice and not as good as BFG KO2 offroad, but they should be a good universal tire. Let us know how how they work after a few thousand miles.
