Default LX Recall

Heard a quick notice of a recall on LX and other Toyota Trucks that seat sensor could cause airbag to inflate prematurely.
Anyone else hear this or have more info?

From LeftLane News:

The second recall involves 89,700 Toyota Land Cruiser and Lexus LX570 models from the 2008-2019 model years. Toyota says some of those vehicles may have been built with a front passenger seat belt tension sensor that could malfunction over time. If a malfunction occurs, an airbag warning light and the passenger airbag "OFF" indicator will appear on the dash. If those warning lights are illuminated, the front passenger's front, side and knee airbags will not deploy in the event of a crash, increasingly the likelihood of injury.

No crashes or injuries have been linked to either recall.

My VIN is included, and per the NHTSA, they expect a remedy by Mid-February 2019.

I find it funny that some Lexus dealers have not lowered pricing in used LX’s. As an example I was looking at a 2016 CPO in late November. The recall came out and now that same vehicle is not a CPO, but has the same exact price listed as when it was classified as a CPO vehicle. That’s crazy!! There must be a buildup of inventory both new and used. I prefer CPO and will buy when stop sale is lifted. They can still sell used LX’s but cannot certify them.

It's NOT what I heard, or even close. IF your passenger-seat-occupied light goes on when someone sits on the seat, and off with no one on the seat, your system is functioning normally. That's per 2 dealers here...one Lexus/Toyota and the other Toyota. When called, corporate gave me the same answer.

As of 2 weeks ago, service managers verified recall letters will be mailed when Toyota develops a fix. Both noted probably sometime in March.

A couple threads on mud are there for the reading.

I believe that a dealer cannot sell a vehicle until the recall work has been fixed. At least that is what I was told in the state of Georgia. They can sell the car at an auction, but a retail sale cannot be complete. This may have something to do with not being able to sell a car CPO. My dealer said a fix should be available mid February and Lexus will send out letters when that is a sure thing.
